It really fascinates me how my reading preferences evolve since I start to fall in love with reading.
Technical Coding and Programming Books
I remember when I’m college since I’ve taken a Computer Science degree so most of the things that interest me are technical books regarding the fundamentals of programming and data structures and algorithms. Those books really help me to have a better understanding of creating logic for a computer program. It was 6 years ago.
And from that I’m I’ve got interested in Zen Buddhism and Meditations and self-improvement.
Financial Literacy, Business, Startup, and Entrepreneurship Books
Then after college, I start working on the corporate for about 2 years. My brother gives me a book by Robert Kiyosaki which is the Rich Dad and Poor Dad. These books completely blew up the way I think about my career. I’ve learned the basics of financial literacy and managing your cash-flow plus the practical use of assets and liabilities. Another important thing is the Four Quadrant regarding the employees, self-employed, businessman an and investors.
Then from that, I become more obsess on reading about business, startup, and entrepreneurship.
When I’m reading about business and startup, I no longer have the desire to compete in the corporate ladder and advance my technical skills in software engineering for high paying salary. You know I’m this kid before who are obsessively looking for new frameworks to try so I’m attending a lot of tech meetups.
After 2 years in the corporate, I already start thinking on going to startup mode and create my own product. But my idea regarding creating products still related that you need to be Venture Capital funded to start your own.
I’ve resigned to corporate and start freelancing for almost 1 year and a half but I didn’t build any product at this time since I have some sort of small development team that requires full attention.
Discovery of Indie Makers
Past forward, In the middle of 2018 I start to discover about the Indie Makers who are creating software products without that need for external investors. All bootstrap. The article 12 startups in 12 months of Pieter Levels is the one that introduces me to a completely different world of makers.
And now it really connects to my initial dreams to build my own software products.
Current – Being an Artist and Making Software Products
Most reading preferences now completely move into creating, making, building software products. Plus learning how to sell and market your own product to the world.
Additionally, I start to admire those people who are artist and makers.
Right now I’m currently reading about Blue Magic by Elizabeth Gilberth. I’m trying to get some inspirations on how writers and creative people come up with the idea and nurture the ideas that they get and turn them into reality and sharing it to the world.
